'Gender Dysphoria' and 'Gender Affirming Care' - An Analysis of the New US Report on the Matter

Published on May 23, 2025

This May 23rd Webinar focused on the latest developments on gender dysphoria and gender transitions for kids and teenagers.

The US Department of Health and Public Services has just published a ground-breaking report on Gender Dysphoria, debunking the myth that "gender-affirming care" is the answer for children and teenagers who struggle with their body and sexuality.

Together with the CASS report published by the NHS in the UK, this publication is of utmost relevance for policy makers, politicians, medical professionals, journalists, and the wider cultural debate.

It is published against the backdrop of growing international concern about pediatric medical transition. Having recognized the experimental nature of these medical interventions and their potential for harm, health authorities in a number of countries have imposed restrictions. For example, the U.K. has banned the routine use of puberty blockers as an intervention for pediatric gender dysphoria.

The Review summarizes, synthesizes, and critically evaluates the existing literature on best practices for promoting the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents with distress related to their sex or to social expectations associated with their sex.

Sophia Kuby hosted a conversation with Leor Sapir, PhD, fellow at the Manhattan Institute and widely recognized thought leader on topics related to pediatric gender medicine, education policy, and culture, and Giorgio Mazzoli, Director of UN Advocacy at ADF International.
